All of the moorings operated by Cowes Harbour Commission, including Shepards Wharf Marina, are offered as a package of 8 nights from Fri 10th Aug-Fri 17th Aug inclusive. At this time, there are no berths available for pre-booking for pro-rata or partial days. Boats that turn up before the 10th of August or remain after the 17th of August will be charged normal visitor rates. Please notify the Berthing Masters of your intentions if you plan to stay on after the last races on Saturday.
There are 4 types of moorings available to book for the 8-day period of Cowes Week including:
Marina Pontoon Berths at Shepards Wharf Marina
Walk ashore, rafted pontoon moorings with full marina facilities for boats up to 16 metres in length. Friendly & social atmosphere with on-site entertainment & nightclub. Other facilities include onsite restaurant and sailmaker. Water & electricity (where available) included in the 8-day rate. On site showers available by token and coin operated laundry facilities located 2 min. walk off-site. Public parking is available 24 hours a day in the Council run pay & display car park opposite the marina.
Please Note: Shepards Wharf Marina is expected to be operating to 100% capacity during Cowes Week. We regret therefore that we cannot accommodate support craft (commuter RIBs, etc.) unless by prior arrangement. A limited number of berths will be available for support craft at the full Cowes Week rate. If you wish to apply for one of these spaces, please request an application via email.
River Pontoons
River Pontoon Moorings are located up river of the Chain Ferry, the majority being located on E and W pontoons in the area known as Whitegates. There are also a number of pontoon berths located in the Folly Reach area. All river pontoon berths are in rafts of 4-6 boats, allocated by the Berthing Masters according to size and type of vessel. Shore access is by water taxi only, no walk ashore access. Likewise there is no access to electricity, water or pump out facilities. Pontoon berth holders may, space permitting, come alongside at Shepards Wharf Marina to use the pump out facilities, take on water or top up with electric (short stay rates will apply and a competent person must remain onboard if the vessel is required to depart) Please hail Shepards Wharf on VHF channel 80 or ring 01983 297 821 to check availability before you arrive.
Cowes Roads Swinging Moorings
These are the outer moorings to the north of the main harbour. H, J and K rows are located to the east of the harbour entrance are capable of taking yacht’s varying from 8 to 35mtrs, with the larger vessels further out. M row to the west of the harbour entrance is primarily for larger vessels of 20-25 metres. If you plan to stay aboard you vessel in Cowes Roads during Cowes Week, please bear in mind that these moorings can be quite bumpy in certain weather and may be uncomfortable if you plan to sleep aboard.
Day Class Swinging Moorings
These moorings are located in the northern area of the main harbour and are designed to accommodate day class vessels such as XODs, Dragons, Sonatas, etc. These moorings are primarily booked through the Class Secretaries of each respective class. Your first point of contact to book a day class mooring should be your class secretary.
